- AMD named “Official Technology Partner” of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile -

SUNNYVALE, CA -- September 2, 2005 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced it will become the Official Technology Partner of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the international non-profit organization concerned with automotive, motoring and mobility issues and the governing body of world motor sport. Through this new relationship, AMD will lend technology expertise across a range of activities in the automotive and motor sports sectors and provide technological counsel as the FIA formulates automotive public policies and regulations for motor sports.

In addition, AMD will provide computing solutions, including server, desktop and mobile systems based on AMD64 technology to the FIA to support race control, Web site hosting, and data management at Formula One races worldwide. AMD64 technology is the gold standard in 64-bit computing. AMD64 enables enterprise organizations to maximize the performance of their software, and allows them to make the most of their current and future investments.

“In the automotive world the potential for intelligent transport systems is almost unlimited and eventually technology will help alleviate the major problems of congestion and safety. Technology is also playing an increasingly important role in motor sport. The only way that the FIA can stay at the forefront of these issues is to have access to cutting-edge technology and leading expertise in the electronics and information technology fields,” said Max Mosley, president of the FIA. “AMD is clearly at the leading-edge of technology and very well positioned to provide the type of support we need. We look forward to working directly with AMD’s Henri Richard as he takes on the new role of FIA Technology Special Advisor.”

“Our technology alliance with the FIA demonstrates AMD’s commitment to helping the world’s leading organizations take advantage of the phenomenal impact of technology in new and creative ways,” said Henri Richard, executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer, AMD. “We are excited to be working with the FIA to help lead the automotive world and improve motor sport through this unique relationship.”

The FIA Formula One World Championship is one of the most successful and highly visible forms of motor sport in the world. AMD has been involved in Formula One since 2002 as the Official Technology Partner of the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team and also most recently as an Official Technology Partner of the Sauber Petronas F1 team.

Earlier this year, the FIA, in collaboration with AMD, launched the first global fan survey to gauge public opinion of the sport and help shape the future of Formula One regulations. The survey was completed by more than 90,000 respondents from 180 countries and showed that fans respect the role of technology in F1 as a major differentiator for the sport. Survey participants said they believe technology developed in F1 racing improves the design, safety and efficiency of commercial road cars and 71 percent of the respondents indicated a desire to see more technical information in F1. Preliminary results of the FIA/AMD Formula One Survey 2005 were published in the August issue of F1 Racing magazine. The complete survey results are now available from the FIA and AMD and can be found at www.fia.com and www.amd.com.
