Alltel Wireless introduces one of the thinnest phones in the U.S. - The Wafer™

New ultra-thin phone from Samsung exclusively available at Alltel

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Alltel Wireless, America’s largest network, today announced The Wafer™, one of the thinnest, sleekest phones available on the U.S. market today, is now available exclusively at shopalltel.com and Alltel Wireless retail locations.

The Wafer (SCH-r510) by Samsung, offers customers the cool features they have come to expect out of their wireless phones in a quarter-inch form that can slip easily into a pocket, purse or the palm of your hand.

The Wafer, weighing only 2.7 oz., features XM Radio Mobile, Axcess TV and Axcess Mobile Guide. The Wafer is preloaded with Axcess Search, which allows customers to search for ringtones, wallpaper or other information on their phones by simply holding down the pound key. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel camera with video capabilities, an MP3 player, an expandable memory slot, Stereo Bluetooth Headset capability and Alltel’s award-winning Celltop technology.

The phone is equipped with Alltel’s exclusive Celltop technology, which is free-of-charge and features 11 pre-installed and downloadable “cells.” Each cell is a category-specific half screen comprised of graphics and text that provides shortcuts for wireless users to navigate through information and applications including: call log, weather, news, baseball, basketball, football, rodeo, stocks, text messaging inbox and ringtones. Celltop recently was named “Best in Show” at the Second Annual Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards at CTIA Wireless 2007, the world’s largest event for the wireless industry.

The Wafer is now available at Alltel Wireless retail stores and at shopalltel.com for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. This discounted price is available when new customers sign-up for a two-year service agreement as well as existing eligible customers on qualifying rate plans. Customers who purchase The Wafer and are on a qualifying calling plan are able to join “My Circle,” Alltel’s exclusive feature that allows customers to choose who they call for free - any 10 numbers, any network.
