Canon U.S.A. Introduces Developer Support Program To Enhance Third-Party Offerings for Canon Large Format Printers

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of office imaging systems, inkjet technology and digital photography equipment, today announced that the Company’s Developer Support Program (DSP) has been extended to the imagePROGRAF line of large format printers. The DSP will provide third-party software developers with Software Development Kits (SDKs), tools and technical support via the Canon Developer Support Web Site to assist in the seamless development of Raster Image Processing (RIP) software for the various imagePROGRAF large format printer models. This new program will be highlighted in the Canon booth #1400 at the AIIM On Demand 2007 Conference and Expo in Boston.

“We understand large format printers are digital artists, choosing their RIP and software the way painters choose a brush. By extending our Developer Support Program to our imagePROGRAF line of large format printers, we hope to have more RIP vendors support our equipment and provide our customers with a greater variety of tools for their craft,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A.

The Canon Developer Support Web Site is designed to be a central online resource where developers can easily find product information, contact technical support and review development documentation for Canon products such as the imagePROGRAF printers and line of imageRUNNER MFPs. Throughout their development process, RIP vendors will be able to continually visit the site for updated SDKs and announcements. Software developers will also be able to e-mail DSP service technicians for support regarding imagePROGRAF models.

The program also provides new and prospective RIP vendors with the opportunity to easily submit online applications to receive Software Development Kits (SDKs), printers and supplies to develop applications for Canon large format printers.
