O3Spaces launches version 2.1 of its integrated Basic Content Service for OpenOffice.org / StarOffice
O3Spaces Workplace 2.1 released.
O3Spaces announces the immediate availability of O3Spaces Workplace 2.1, the integrated Basic Content Service (BCS) for the open source office suite OpenOffice.org and its commercial sibling StarOffice.
O3spaces provides document centric collaboration including real-time version control, check-in/check-out and document security.
The new key features for Version 2.1 are the significantly enhanced OpenOffice.org / StarOffice plugin and the new Microsoft Office plugin. The release of version 2.1 has both deepened and broadened the possibilities for document centric collaboration with O3Spaces Workplace.
For the OpenOffice.org & StarOffice suites the deeper integration means collaboration features such as comparing shared document versions, reviewing and adding document comments are now available to the user within the Office suite. The plugin also facilitates direct pdf-export of any ODF document to the Workplace.
Microsoft Office users can now also work with the O3Spaces Workplace collaboration features directly from within their Office suite. Effectively O3Spaces Workplace 2.1 helps to close the gap for the widespread adoption of the Open Document Format, by supporting an integrating mixed Office environments.
O3Spaces Workplace 2.1 also sports a feature-rich, easy to use and highly customizable AJAX Web interface. Users can quickly create workspaces for particular tasks or projects and use them to keep tabs on the related documents. Users can communicate with each other from within the workspace.
