“University of Maryland University College is delighted to be a partner in the CA Academic Initiative,” said Dr. Mary J. Hoferek, program director of database systems technology at UMUC. “Our students welcome the opportunity to have hands-on experience supporting their learning of theoretical material. CA is providing management software that will enable our students to be better prepared for their future careers in IT.”

Membership in the CA Academic Initiative includes benefits such as:

-Special license rights allowing the installation of select software on any number of lab machines for teaching and research purposes;
-Professional curriculum materials such as instructor guides, student guides and lab exercises;
-Enrollment in CA Learning courses at no charge, on a space-available basis;
-The ability for faculty and students taking at least one credit course offered by the institution to install the software on their personal machines for use in coursework and personal development projects; and,
-Technical support for installation, configuration and basic usage problems.
“The constantly evolving global marketplace creates a strong demand for qualified IT professionals who can understand and contribute to the dramatic impact technology has on the success and future of today’s companies,” said Gabby Silberman, senior vice president of CA Labs. “By partnering with CA, higher education institutions can provide students with practical, real-world experience while enabling faculty to maintain leading-edge knowledge of software technologies and methodologies.”

The CA Academic Initiative program currently is available in the United States and Canada and is expected to be made available worldwide over the next year.
