Safety Manager and Poet Brion K. Hanks Set to Promote Recently Published Poetry Collection of Encouraging Thoughts and Reflections to Readers Who Need Them

Some incredible works of literature can come from surprising sources, none the least being those authors who have had long careers in fields far away from writing. Such is the case of Brion K Hanks, who had worked professionally in the world of construction and civil engineering before finally getting to use his pen to co-write a book on safety and risk. Brion intends that his poetry be thought-provoking and improve right human relations.

Still, it was only during the more recent period close to his retirement years that he had finally been able to create something closer to his heart. In 2000, he published his first book of poetry titled When the Rose Fades .

Since then, he has worked on producing more poems that reflect on various subjects such as loss, love, friendship, and appreciating the richness of life in the present moment.

Many of these new poems are now found in another book published in 2022, titled “Tales of a Traveler in Poetry and Prose: Along The Road Before Me.” Hanks is currently doing some promotion of his book. Yet alongside that, several reviews are already praising the width and depth he goes to express its themes.

The Tulsa Book Review says, “To add depth to his poems, Hanks uses a variety of poetic and literary devices, such as rhymes, repetition, metaphors, and similes. The author’s repeating of the query ‘What was happening to me?’ in Was I Dreaming? made the reality of dying feel more poignant and chilling.”

Meanwhile, the Portland Book Review notes, “One thing that sticks out the most after reading Hanks’ work is the sense of positivity he puts into his poems. It is evident that Hanks wants his reader to hold hope for the future.”

The Seattle Book Review also heaps praise for Tales of a Traveler in Poetry and Prose. It says, “…the messages were loud and clear, and the writing style was impressive. Brion had a long career in civil engineering and construction with the last 10 years as a full-time Project Safety Manager. In 2000, at the behest of a friend, he published his first book of poetry titled: When The Rose Fades.

Additionally, as a means to be involved with current events in 5 Western States, he wrote a few articles for newspapers and well as many Letters to Editors regarding National, State and Local issues.
