The bookseller invites readers to join the free virtual event on Tuesday, April 2nd at 3:00 PM ET

New York, NY – WEBWIRE

Barnes & Noble announces After Annie as their March National Book Club pick and welcomes readers to join author Anna Quindlen at a free live virtual event. The author will be in conversation with Lexie Smyth, Category Manager for Fiction at Barnes & Noble, and Jenna Seery, Associate Producer of Poured Over, the B&N Podcast, to discuss the title as well as answer questions from audience members. Attendees must register via Eventbrite to access the livestream on Zoom.

After Annie cements Anna Quindlen’s status as one of the great chroniclers of familial relationships,” said Lexie Smyth, Category Manager for Fiction, Barnes & Noble. “A novel about a year in the life of a family reeling after the death of a young mother, After Annie is a moving novel of resilience and community. Quindlen has crafted a story that demonstrates the ways we come together after tragedy strikes, and the ripple effect we have on the lives of those around us. Intimate, hopeful, and rich, our Book Club readers will undoubtedly have great discussions about the Brown family and their circle of friends. I’m so pleased to put this forward as our March Book Club selection.”

Anna Quindlen, Pulitzer Prize-winner and bestselling author of Still Life with Bread Crumbs and One True Thing, returns to the shelf with this deeply resonant story of a family’s road to healing — without ever shying away from the potholes, barricades and storms they weathered along the way. Told from alternating perspectives, After Annie masterfully captures the human condition, creating a novel that is a portrait of personal strength and growth. In true Quindlen fashion, the art of her writing remains in its simplicity and the way she makes the ordinary feel extraordinary through her voice and the power it brings to each page. Perfect for fans of Ann Napolitano and Amy Jo Burns seeking their next unputdownable read.

The Barnes & Noble Book Club selects a newly published work of fiction each month, chosen by their booksellers to provoke, engage and enthrall book lovers. The Barnes & Noble Exclusive Edition of After Annie features a special jacket with silver foil, gloss, heavy textured paper stock, and green endpapers. It also includes a conversation between Anna Quindlen and J. Courtney Sullivan and a book club discussion guide. Leading up to the event, readers can share their thoughts and engage in conversation on social media using the hashtag #BNBookClub. During the livestream, readers are encouraged to participate in the discussion and submit questions to be answered throughout.

“So pleased and proud that Barnes and Noble has chosen After Annie as its March book club selection,” said author, Anna Quindlen. “I join a stellar group, which over the last six months has been all-female and has included my friends Ann Patchett and Alice McDermott. Thank you, Barnes and Noble.”

The enthusiasm and word-of-mouth recommendations of Barnes & Noble booksellers across the country have sparked ardent praise from readers nationwide, turning great novels into bestsellers. Previous Barnes & Noble Book Club selections have included: Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller, The Night Ship by Jess Kidd, The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, The Testaments by Margaret Atwood, The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett, One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle, Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and The Cloisters by Katy Hays.
