Siemens’ Open Mobility Solution Provides Robust Wireless Communications, Improving Productivity and Satisfaction of Credit Union Employees

WEBWIRE

Siemens Communications, Inc. (NYSE: SI) today announced that Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU) in suburban Brea, Calif., has chosen Siemens to combine ECCU’s wired and wireless environments, and provide ECCU staff with robust wireless communication with state-of-the-art security for the two buildings on their 17-acre campus.

ECCU is focused on being the banking resource for Christian churches, schools, mission-sending agencies and other evangelical ministries. They also provide banking services to missionaries in over 110 countries around the world. The company needed a new, cost-effective mobile solution that would meet its current and future business needs while being fully compatible with legacy voice and data infrastructure. “We wanted a secure way for staff to stay connected away from their desks,” said Alan Weisenberger, Vice President of Technology Services at ECCU. “We needed world-class experience and service to get the job done right, and Siemens delivered.”

Siemens’ single point of contact for delivering complex, converged-technology solutions, its strength in wireless communications and its standards-based, open, user-centric technology convinced ECCU to choose Siemens over all competitors. The company extended its LAN deploying a wireless VoIP communications solution, enabling its mobile staff to always remain in contact no matter where they are on campus. Siemens optiPoint WL2 Professional wireless VoIP phones deliver the same rich user experience as Siemens desktop devices, improving employees’ response times to customers and employees’ working environment.

ECCU augmented its existing HiPath 4000 Real Time IP communications platform with optiPoint WL2 Professional wireless VoIP phones. The comprehensive wireless solution was designed around ECCU’s existing LAN and provides secure, reliable and mobility-enhancing voice and data services for ECCU’s nearly 280 employees and 40 call center agents.

Siemens unifies fixed and mobile domains providing a single number service and enterprise features on campus and mobile networks. This delivers productivity enhancements, reduces mobility costs and extends convenience of use.

“ECCU selected Siemens’ open mobility solution because Siemens focused on ECCU’s business needs and customer service objectives, not just technology. Our open communications approach allowed ECCU to optimize their existing infrastructure and deliver greater value for their employees and members,” said Luc Roy, Vice President of Product Planning. “This is our key role, to understand our customers’ business and become their trusted partner and advisor. With technology as an enabler, we help our customers achieve their full potential, especially organizations seeking comprehensive wireless communications to support their worldwide operations.”
