PORTLAND, OR (December 2006) – LaCie today announced it is shipping new colorful CD-R LightScribe media in five vibrant colors: red, orange, yellow, blue and green. LaCie LightScribe Color-Background Media is available in a 50-pack, which includes five spindles of 10 discs each (one of each color).

“LaCie is pleased to present fabulous new color CDs for owners of LaCie LightScribe drives. Our customers will be able to reach greater levels of expression and creativity with their LaCie optical drives,” said Alexis Kobassian, LaCie Product Manager. “Colorful LightScribe media are the latest attractive addition to LaCie’s CD and DVD burning product line, which gives our customers an affordable and easy way to archive and create their ever-growing multimedia projects.”

Innovative LightScribe technology enables consumers and businesses to burn silk screen-quality labels onto LightScribe media right in the drive – no printing supplies are required. New color-background CDs have enhanced image contrast compared to previous generation discs. CDs with the LightScribe Media Version 1.2 coating technology are compatible with LaCie LightScribe drives running host software v1.4.62.1 or later.

LaCie offers 16x DVD±RW with LightScribe drives in the classic heat-dissipating d2 design, as well as the clean and stylish design by F.A. Porsche (also available in a lightweight mobile model). Double-layer burning capabilities and USB 2.0 or FireWire interface options, when combined with LightScribe Labeler, make LaCie CD and DVD drives a complete burning solution for any operating system. Or those with another brand burner can download LaCie’s free LightScribe Labeler software for Mac OS® or Linux to use with an existing LightScribe burner.
