Microsoft’s Digital Storytelling App, Sway, Integrates With Nearpod, the Leading K-12 Digital Content Platform

Through Nearpod, teachers can now use Sways, virtual reality, videos, quizzes, drawing exercises, polls and more to supercharge their student’s learning

San Francisco – WEBWIRE

Nearpod, the ed-tech platform that lets K-12 teachers find, create and distribute digital learning experiences, announces it now integrates with Microsoft’s Office Sway, a storytelling app designed to bring ideas to life.

With more than 4 million students per month accessing its platform, Nearpod’s integration with Sway gives teachers and students access to a new way to create digital, interactive content. Thanks to this collaboration, Nearpod users can now use Sway to create beautiful, interactive, web-based expressions of their ideas, and then add them seamlessly as part of their Nearpod Lesson plans.

“Teachers have the hardest job in the world and time is one of their most precious resources,” explained Guido Kovalskys, Nearpod’s CEO and cofounder. “We’re excited to collaborate with Microsoft and their Office Sway Team. The combination of Nearpod’s existing capabilities and Sway’s effortless design tools will allow teachers to create beautifully designed lessons that look great on any screen.

Additionally, teachers can choose to share original Sways with the entire Nearpod community, creating a crowdsourced library of classroom-ready content.

“Sway is a new, easy-to-use tool for quickly creating interactive lessons, dynamic reports, and engaging presentations -- it’s a natural fit for classrooms and is already loved by teachers and their students globally,” said Eran Megiddo, CVP of Education, Microsoft. “We’re excited to put Sways in the hands of Nearpod’s passionate educators and PioNears, which are some of the most active users of innovative educational technologies.”

“Sway and Nearpod share similar product philosophies, as both are “cloud-native” and “mobile-first” tools,” said Mr Kovalskys.  “To our surprise, the integration efforts were very straightforward.  We first met to discuss this at ISTE this past June, and we were able to ship this integration on time for the back-to-school season” he added.

The news follows the Nearpod’s designation to the Inc 5000, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies, where it was number 297 overall and number eight in education.

Nearpod is available on iOS, Android, and on the web; learn more about Nearpod and Sway at https://blog.nearpod.com/sway-comes-to-nearpod/
