Nissan Kicks, the future of crossovers, officially launches in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, Mexico – WEBWIRE

Nissan Mexico has launched its new crossover, Nissan Kicks, in Mexico City. This global model – which is produced at Nissan’s A1 manufacturing plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico – is being introduced for the first time into the Mexican market and is expected to revolutionize the compact crossover industry, a segment the company is participating in for the first time.

Nissan is currently a leader and pioneer brand when it comes to crossovers around the world, and now with a fresh design and avant-garde technology, Kicks is ready to take on the crossover sector for the Mexican and Latin-American market where it’s currently seeing rapid growth.

Mayra González, CEO for Nissan Mexico, stated that the launch of the completely new Nissan Kicks was solidifying crossovers for the brand and offering the most complete portfolio in the Mexican automotive industry, now with 20 different models that cover all the needs of our customers.

Nissan Kicks offers and advanced aerodynamic design, which optimizes fuel consumption and minimizes noise. Also, its design combines a robust exterior and an elevated driving position while maintaining compact measurements for agile performance. Kicks is also one of the first Nissan models to materialize the concept of Intelligent Mobility, which was first presented at the Geneva Auto Show in 2016.

Intelligent Mobility is a new technology aimed to reduce stress for drivers with innovations such as a peripheral view monitor, a moving object detection system and economic fuel depletion thanks to an advanced 1.6-liter engine and a lightweight platform.

At this first stage, Kicks will enter the Mexican and Brazilian markets and later on, it will compete in the rest of the Latin American markets and countries from the Persian Gulf.

Its manufacturing plant, A1 invested $150,000,000, created 50 new jobs and integrated 14 new supply companies to support the production of this model. The new crossover Kicks is the fifth model produced at A1 along with Nissan Sentra, Nissan NOTE, Nissan March and Nissan Versa.

The Kicks launch will help solidify Nissan’s leadership in Latin American markets as well as a huge step for the manufacturing efforts in Mexico.
