“Fly Away Free” is the heart-warming story of a spunky young girl’s journey to find herself with the help of an older woman who helps her find her way; it is the story of courage, determination, self-discovery and love, and a young girl’s struggle to overcome the pain of being an adopted child.

Fly Away Free by Anne Turner Coppola, was displayed at the 2016 Beijing International Book Fair from August 24 to 29, at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, China. Fly Away Free is a beautiful story about Tessie Farrell, an only child of dairy farmers in northern New York, along the Saint Lawrence River, and her journey to find out the reasons and circumstances surrounding her adoption.

Tessie is an adopted child. Lonely and isolated, she rescues a baby osprey and creates her own fantasy world with the help of a horse named Dolly and two geese she has taken care of from the time they hatched. Then Tessie meets a woman, Maudie Carroll, who plays a very significant role in helping her find acceptance and love.

About the Author

Anne Turner Coppola was born in Redford, New York, one of seven children. She was ten years old when her father died. When she was twelve, after her mother was hospitalized, she was placed in a foster home, where she lived until she entered college to obtain a teaching degree, and where she met and married her air force husband.  In 1993, Anne wrote three stories for children, which lay hidden away in her home files. After her death in 2012 from breast cancer, Anne’s husband found her manuscripts, and had them published. Aside from “Fly Away Free,” Anne’s two other books, “The Last Panther” and “The Ghost of the Dunes,” are also now available in the market.
