Claro Peru selects Alcatel’s microwave mobile backhaul solution

Paris, September 12, 2006 - Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA AND NYSE: ALA) today announced that Claro Peru, a subsidiary of America Movil Group the leading providers of telecommunications services in Latin America, has selected Alcatel’s SDH microwave backhaul solution for its countrywide mobile network in Peru.

The contract includes the supply of the Alcatel LSY 9600, the best-in-class SDH wireless technology, and a full set of network implementation services ranging from network engineering, installation and commissioning to training and three years of maintenance. Claro will use Alcatel’s solutions to expand its existing microwave backbone and capillary networks.

“Alcatel’s strong position in the SDH long distance microwave market in Peru and its offer of local services and project management support were key in our choice of Alcatel as a partner”, said Humberto Chávez, General Director of Claro Peru.
