Gardening Express New & Exclusive Photinia ’Pink Crispy’

Gardening Express is a leading online Plant & Garden Specialist based in the UK. The business was created by founder CEO Chris Bonnett, and has grown to be a thorn in the side of traditional rivals with its dynamic approach and new thinking. The concept is simple; a dedication to quality, service and value for money, has resulted in this entrepreneur taking Gardening Express to be one of the UK’s largest online businesses of its type in just a few short years.

The leading online plant specialist Gardening Express has added a selection of new and exclusive hardy plant varieties to its range that gardeners will love and will be unable to find elsewhere.

The business is stepping up its availability of new and exclusive plants in line with market and consumer trends for something new, exciting or simply a little bit different. Increasing numbers of new plants and varieties that are exclusively available through Gardening Express will be coming on stream before the peak trading period next Spring. “We will also be launching our new look website before the end of 2015” commented Chris Bonnett, founder and CEO of the company.

Among the new plants available is a novelty evergreen shrub, Photinia ‘Pink Crispy’, with superb marbled foliage and vivid red stems topped off by deep pink new growth. Unveiled to the horticultural market in August, it won a Gold medal at Plantarium, an event described as the gardening equivalent of the Oscars for new varieties and the plant trade.

Gardening Express secured exclusivity from the breeder for the variety in the Spring in advance of the unveiling. Chris Bonnett, founder CEO of Gardening Express explained that he and his team ‘know a winner when we see one’ and explained how he encourages staff to take ownership and entrepreneurial risk when sourcing new products. ‘We know what works and when, and even if a variety is not received as warmly as expected, we know how to sell’.

Other additions to the range include Hibiscus ‘Sugar Tip’ from the USA, an eye-catching Rose of Sharon with brightly variegated creamy-white and bluish-green foliage. Producing masses of clear soft pink, double flowers, it does not produce seed like older cultivars meaning it blooms from mid June until the leaves fall in Autumn.

Ceanothus ‘Cool Blue’, is another Gold Medal winning variety added to the range, originally discovered in the Netherlands as a chance variation on a shoot of Ceanothus Victoria growing in a commercial nursery. The shoot was carefully cultivated and reproduced, proving to be a strong plant in its own right, with the new variegated foliage strong and stable. The particularly good thing about the parentage of Cool Blue Ceanothus is that it is derived from the Victoria variety which is widely known and well renowned as the hardiest form of Ceanothus available. This new silver variegated plant has inherited this trait, meaning it can be planted with confidence even in more northern gardens.

All of the above varieties, and many more are available to order online from www.GardeningExpress.co.uk or by calling 08448 044 253.
