Gwyneth Paltrow’s Back To School Guide Includes Yoga for Kids

Los Angeles, California, USA – WEBWIRE

Thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow’s back to school guide, parents can be rest assured that their children will be adequately prepared for school. Among other things, the Hollywood starlet shares her opinions on why yoga is changing schools for the better.

Gwyneth Paltrow quotes a study of school children by Dr. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa - an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Neuroscientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The results indicated that children who practiced yoga at school were not only able to concentrate better but were also better equipped to handle stress.

The star advocates yoga as part of a healthy lifestyle. In fact, there has been an upsurge in both children and adults who practice yoga, according to a recent survey from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease and Prevention.

“I think the growth of yoga is just starting,” says Teresa Anne Power, a lawyer turned children’s yoga teacher and bestselling author from Pacific Palisades, Calif. She says her multiple award-winning book “The ABC Yoga for Kids” sells better today than when it was released in 2009. Schools “buy it the bundle,” she says, and have largely gotten past the misunderstanding that teaching yoga involves teaching religion.

Seeing an increased interest in children’s yoga is no surprise, as more and more parents and teachers are searching for ways to help kids become calmer and more focused in school. According to Power, by practicing yoga in school kids are learning the value of relaxation and exercise.

Parents and educators can find out more about children’s yoga at, including ways to make yoga fun for young children so that they can develop an active lifestyle early on during their formative years.
