Hearst Magazines today announced that Thomas Ghareeb has been appointed vice president and controller
Hearst Magazines today announced that Thomas Ghareeb has been appointed vice president and controller, replacing Fred Hanft, who is retiring after more than four decades of dedicated service to the company. Ghareeb, starting in his new role on January 1, will oversee the accounting, budget, forecast, financial reporting and billing for Hearst Magazines. He will report to Hearst Magazines Senior Vice President of Finance Jack Rohan.
With a career at Hearst Magazines spanning 25 years, Ghareeb has been assistant controller of budget and forecasting at Hearst Magazines since 2005. Previously, he served as assistant controller of general accounting and prior to that, director of accounting. Ghareeb started at Hearst Magazines as a staff accountant in 1989.
“Tom has a profound understanding of our business and our culture, and in this leadership role, he will continue his important work to help Hearst Magazines reach and exceed our business goals,” Rohan said. “At the same time, we wish Fred the very best in his retirement. Among his many accomplishments, he played a key role in the relocation of our division’s accounting and billing operations from New York to Charlotte, N.C., and has been an outstanding leader and friend for many years.”
“I’m looking forward to working with our financial team to continue to build on the smart systems that Fred developed and managed,” Ghareeb said. “Hearst Magazines is a truly innovative, diverse media company, and Fred has always been an inspiration and a mentor. I’m thrilled to take on new responsibilities as controller.”
