Parkeon and Schweers Integrate For Faster Enforcement

WEBWIRE

Parkeon, a global leader in urban mobility solutions for the parking and transit industries, and Schweers Technologies, a world market leader in providing tools for professional law enforcement, have announced that the two companies have developed a Pay by Space parking integration.

The integration is designed to help Parking Enforcement Officers quickly move from checking the status of a parking space to writing a citation. When an enforcement officer is ready to enforce a zone, he or she uses the application provided by Schweers, which resides on a wireless handheld enforcement device, to query the Parkeon database of parking meter transactions. The information for each space is provided – space number, paid or unpaid, and expiration time. If the officer identifies that a vehicle is in violation, he can issue a citation directly from the same application. There is no need to switch between multiple applications on the device.

“Pay-by-space is a great concept for parking management. We are glad that we can support our customers and the industry with the just tool for a reliable integrated service and for easy straight forward hand-held parking enforcement” said Michael Schweers, President and CEO of Schweers Technologies.

“We feel that it is critical to enhance parking enforcement in every way possible to help create better turnover of parking spaces,” said Sean Renn, Marketing Director at Parkeon, Inc. “Our integration with Schweers is a key component of that philosophy.”

The first municipality that is taking advantage of this integration is the Town of Huntington, NY. Huntington is located along Long Island and went live in April with 24 Parkeon Strada Pay Stations to help manage parking along Main Street, New York Avenue, and at the Huntington Long Island Rail Road Station. The Strada Pay Stations are supplied and supported by DEVO & Associates.
