Naviblog wins Red Herring Asia 100 award

TOKYO, August 21, 2006: Naviblog Corporation, a pioneering innovator of browser-based mobile phone applications, today announced it has been named a Red Herring Asia 100 winner, an award program recognizing the most promising private technology companies in the region.

“Having lived on all continents but Antarctica, our Tokyo-based team combines five nationalities, nine languages, seventeen computer languages, and degrees from astrophysics to human-computer interaction and philosophy. You don’t find companies like that very often”, says Naviblog President & CEO Mandali Khalesi. "Our cutting-edge mobile technologies are redefining the concept of local search and information sharing on the mobile phone, helping businesses create new opportunities across a wide variety of industry sectors.”

Founded in July 2005, the software company received the prestigious award only days after the commercial release of its Naviblog Mobile 2.0 software platform, which allows users to search or post location-related comments directly to a map interface, using internet-enabled mobile phones. Naviblog provides customized versions of its communication service solutions to mobile network operators, handset makers, and content providers. Application examples include mobile community sites for network operators, interactive travel guides where users can post realtime for the publishing industry, music-centric communities for the recording industry, and business tools for real estate organizations looking to support their staff in the field.

The browser-based system does not require any application downloads and works independent of the mobile phone operating environment, drastically reducing development costs and deployment timescales. For the consumer, Naviblog simplifies the user experience by eliminating the need for downloads, installations or updates. Naviblog Mobile 2.0 works on any mobile handset browser, and puts users on the map by supporting all positional technologies (base station triangulation/Cell ID, GPS, WiFi, and direct address input).

After successfully launching its service on the Japan’s au mobile carrier network in early 2006, the company is now expanding internationally. It recently completed the pilot phase of technology implementation on China Unicom’s mobile network, and is in negotiations with mobile network operators and content providers in Europe as well as the US.
