PCMag.com names Rogers Communications Canada’s Fastest Mobile Network

Network scoops national award for overall reach and growing 4G LTE network

NEW YORK, NY, October 16, 2013 – Rogers Communications has been named the fastest mobile network in Canada – in the first-ever nationwide public test of Canadian mobile networks by the respected technology website, PCMag.com.

Marking the first-time PCMag went across the border to test Canadian networks, its independent team of analysts travelled the country – covering 13 of the top 14 metro areas, encompassing half the Canadian population.   The tests focused on speed and reliability – with devices used for several days at different locations across the metro area.

Rogers scooped the national award, thanks to its wide reach and growing high-speed LTE network. Rogers Wireless was the fastest network in six of the 13 metro areas tested, including Toronto and Montreal while Bell came second overall, winning in five of the metro areas, including Vancouver and Calgary. Manitoba’s own MTS won in Winnipeg, while Telus was the leader in Windsor.

The premier destination for independent technology reviews, PCMag has run its Fastest Mobile Networks project for four years in the US, and this is the first time they have carried it out in Canada. Unlike some other projects of this kind, Fastest Mobile Networks is not funded by a wireless carrier and all testing is done by PCMag, not by a third party. PCMag.com is the world’s premiere destination for technology reviews, reviewing more than 2,000 products per year.

“Choosing a wireless network is one of the most important technology decisions a consumer can make,” said Dan Costa, Editor-in-Chief, PCMag. “PCMag has been helping consumers and businesses make those types of decisions for more than 30 years.”

PCMag.com was supported by its technology partner Sensorly and drove cars from Ford. Testing was done on Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones.
