The Alfa Romeo distribution network to kick off in Russia

WEBWIRE

Alfa Romeo announces its comeback to the Russian market as direct importer through ‘Chrysler Jeep Russia National Sales Company’. The announcement was made today at the ‘Moscow Raceway’ during the eighth stage of the ‘Eni FIM SBK Superbike World Championship 2013’, the enthralling motorcycle championship for which Alfa Romeo has been Top Sponsor and Official Safety Car since 2007.

Perfectly in keeping with the global growth strategy which will drive Alfa Romeo to compete in the heart of the Premium market, the operation confirms the brand’s focus on Russia, a rapidly growing market which is forecasted to close 2013 with 2 million 800 thousand vehicles and which will keep growing to reach 3.2 million over the next four years, a major share of which will be Premium brands.

The Alfa Romeo range in Russia will include Giulietta (which is already being imported), MiTo (the official launch will be in October with the SBK Special Edition) and 4C. An exclusive limited edition of only 500 units of the compact supercar has recently started being marketed in Europe and one was sold in Russia.

The eighth stage of the SBK Championship will also be the opportunity to preview the 4C in Russia: an exclusive white car, sporting the Italian flag, will parade on the track before the second race alongside the MiTo Limited Edition SBK 1.4 170 HP QV, the current Official Safety Car of the event. The compact supercar will be taking over in the future on international SBK Superbike championship tracks and the handover between the two models will be symbolically celebrated in Moscow.

Quality and efficiency: the new Alfa Romeo distribution network
Alfa Romeo has chosen to be present directly in Russia with a sales and services network worthy of a Premium brand. To reach this goal, the brand will employ the consolidated, efficient ‘Chrysler Jeep Russia National Sales Company’, of the Chrysler Group which today manages all sales, after-sales and warranty related activities for Fiat, Fiat Professional, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles marketed in the Russian Federation area.

By the end of the year, five new Alfa Romeo dealers will join the current importer, who will continue to have an important role in the Saint Petersburg area.

In addition to a highly specialised sales network, the Alfa Romeo facilities will also offer an array of very high quality after-sales services created by Mopar. For instance, capitalising on last year’s experience with Jeep owners in Russia, Alfa Romeo customers will also be able to activate exclusive road rescue services for assistance in case of breakdowns or road accidents with courtesy car directly on site. Quality and efficiency are the trump cards of the new Mopar® Logistic Centre which opened in Moscow in 2012 and distributes over 20 thousand Fiat S.p.A and Chrysler Group genuine spare parts in Russia.

National première: Alfa Romeo 4C
The Alfa Romeo 4C is inspired by the century-old traditions of Alfa Romeo but still projects the brand’s authentic values into the future: Italian style, performance and engineering excellence for maximum driving satisfaction and total safety. The name ’4C’ is drawn from Alfa Romeo’s great sporting past. Back in the 1930s and 1940s, the acronyms 8C and 6C distinguished cars - racing and road-going - fitted with powerful 8 cylinder and innovative 6 cylinder engines. The new 4C is designed and built to achieve a weight-to-power ratio of under 4 kg/HP, typical of an authentic supercar. Rather than high engine output, the 4C focuses on reduced weight to deliver maximum agility and top performance.

Designed by Alfa Romeo engineers and made at the Maserati plant in Modena, this captivating coupé with two racing bucket seats uses materials and design solutions like carbon, aluminium, and rear-wheel drive derived from the 8C Competizione along with technologies from Alfa Romeo’s latest models, all thoroughly revised to maximise the new car’s sporting appeal. The new 1750 Turbo petrol engine with direct injection and aluminium block, the sophisticated ’Alfa TCT’ dry twin clutch transmission and the Alfa DNA driving mode selector with the brand-new Race mode prove the point.

A length of approximately 4 metres and a wheelbase of less than 2.4 metres: these dimensions on the one hand emphasise the car’s compact attributes while also accentuating its agility on the other. The superb dynamics of the Alfa Romeo 4C are confirmed by a weight-to-power ratio of under 4 kg/HP, a figure worthy of the best supercars. This vehicle quite simply screams Alfa. Its sports car soul creates a unique driving sensation, both on the road and when racing, where its velocity and transverse acceleration become even more demanding.

It’s available an exclusive merchandising collection inspired by the new ‘super compact’. Thanks to the support of the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, the products were conceived and produced to reflect the sports essence of the new model and reinforce its premium identity, both in the design and in the materials used (aluminium, carbon, leather). This way, the connection between the model and the line of merchandising is clear and fundamental. The product range, the development of which was coordinated by Mopar, includes various types of item: these include the more iconic, able to express the brand’s image and the content of its DNA to the full, such as the all-carbon long-board, the aluminium luge and the carbon sunglasses. Then there are those designed with fashion and lifestyle in mind, such as the high-impermeability raincoat, the carbon-brushed sweatshirt with soft-shell inserts and the waterproof backpack. A more technological area is occupied by the ski goggles or snowboard with GPS connection for augmented reality, the ceramic clock and the handmade carbon and aluminium pen. The car-shaped USB drive and the carbon cover for iPhone or iPad, on the other hand, are more geared towards fun.

MiTo SBK Special Series
Alfa Romeo has created a limited edition (only 30 units) of the new SBK Special Series fitting a 1.4 Turbo MultiAir 135 HP engine and dry twin clutch TCT automatic transmission to celebrate the launch of the MiTo in Russia.

Engineered for motorists who want to combine driving satisfaction and fuel efficiency, the car ensures the performance and temperament of a well balanced sports car. The fact that top torque is delivered optimally in all conditions proves the point. Furthermore, the engine interacts continuously with the Alfa DNA dynamic selector to set the engine personality and optimise performance. Simply by pressing a switch, the driver can choose sportier performance (Dynamic), more fuel efficient driving (Natural) or engine delivery suited to poor weather conditions (All Weather).

On the outside, the exclusive Special Series features 17" titanium alloy rims, chrome-plated spoiler and exhaust, titanium colour mirror fairings (or matching the roof for two-tone paintworks), sporty rear bumper, black fog light frame and the new titanium ’SBK’ logo placed on the rear of the car. The sporty look of the MiTo SBK Special Series is enhanced by four body colours - Black, Alfa Red, Tornado Blue and Biancospino - combined with three roof shades: Black, Alfa Red and the brand-new Cristallo White.

The same racing spirit is found on the inside with the ’SBK’ logo on front head restraints, the black “carbon look” dashboard and the racing pedal board. Standard equipment includes manual climate control, a new radio with 5.0’’ colour touchscreen and leather steering wheel. Finally, the MiTo SBK Special Series is customised with the original SBK kit which includes: sticker, side stickers, rear dam, racing pedal board, red brake callipers and 17’’ titanium alloy rims.

‘Eni FIM SBK Superbike World Championship 2013’
Since 2007, Alfa Romeo has taken part in the enthralling ‘Eni FIM SBK Superbike World Championship’ as Top Sponsor and Official Safety Car, sharing the same values of sportsmanship, technology and safety at the highest levels. The consolidated partnership is a superb expression of Italian engineering style and experience in the world.

MiTo Limited Edition SBK 1.4 170 HP QV - the current Safety Car - will be replaced in the future by the 4C compact supercar. Produced as a limited edition of 200 examples and created on the base of the ‘Quadrifoglio Verde’ version, the MiTo SBK Limited Edition is distinguished by some specific elements that highlight its extreme sports appearance: from the side skirts to the rear dam, as well as the eye-catching red Brembo brake callipers behind the 18" titanium alloy wheels. The same sporty imprint has been given to the interior, enhanced by the Sabelt seats with a wraparound carbon fibre backrest made with the innovative RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) technology that teams great mechanical resistance with smaller dimensions and lightness. The Alfa Romeo logo stands out against the central Alcantara® fabric, reproduced in an absolutely original way. It is all embellished with new red stitching that highlights the craftsmanship of the product, found on the leather trim of the gearbox and steering wheel.
