Daniel Corby, Founder and CEO of 118 trades, part of 118 Group Limited, a multi million £, multi product service company based in the UK is seeking to adopt an environmental policy to be proud of.

Speaking about the announcement, Daniel Corby said “118 trades are absolutely committed to a new environmentally green policy across its business, which will launch in November 2006. The policy will take in all aspects of the business, and we’ll be speaking to all key suppliers to 118 trades asking them to explain their own environmental policies.

The 118 trades programme, will take in everything from print and publications, which is a key spend for the group, where all print and design from November 2006 will be printed on recycled paper, purchased from companies, which have their own environmental policies. We’ll also be installing long life lighting systems in our new call centres, encouraging car sharing and park and ride schemes for our employees, we’ll be doing all we can internally to communicate in e-mail and electronic formats, thereby reducing printed materials used ‘in-house’, we’ll be refilling laser cartridges ourselves and all future company cars purchased or leased will be diesel fuel powered. Director level staff, which are given a monthly value for a lease car, will be incentivised to lease hybrid vehicles, such as Toyota or Lexus models.

The full policy which is being finalised now for launch in November will include statements and policies on recycling mobile phones, IT equipment, and timer systems will be installed to run our air conditioning equipment.

I firmly believe that every one and every business has a contribution to make and can improve their own business through thinking of the environment”

Daniel Corby founded 118 trades in 2005 and the business has grown very rapidly. Up until this point there has been no environmental awareness or policy. Daniel Corby added “we all have a part to play, and we’ll be encouraging all our suppliers to share their own plans with us, on what they are doing to protect the environment. This month has been exceptionally hot, the hottest July in history according to the media, and whether this is just a freak year, or an affect of our actions on the environment, I do not know, it has however made me wonder what has caused it and 118 trades will be doing it can to protect the environments in which we operate”
