Flit brings desk-top level shopping capability to iPhones

San Francisco – Today Flit Shopping, announces the introduction of Flit Shopping Friends for iPhone.  The app builds on the earlier success of the Flit Shopping iPad app.  Both apps make possible an entirely new level of shopping on mobile devices.  The innovative apps and platform are accelerating the migration of commerce activity to mobile devices by enabling “desktop-level shopping” on mobile devices. 

Like the earlier iPad app, Flit Shopping Friends takes shoppers directly into all the shops they love to browse, discover and share. The iPhone app supports the complete shopping cycle from inspiration, exploration, saving of items, visual and price comparison of items, advice from friends, all the way through to purchase.  With Flit this advanced level of shopping capability is now achievable right there on an iPhone.  

The completeness of the shopping experience on Flit is illustrated by the behavior of shoppers purchasing on the Flit app. On average these shoppers visit 8.4 shops before buying – a level that is typical of desktop shopping.   While browsing those shops they use Flit to save 5.8 items – again typical of desktop behaviors but not previously feasible on mobile.  Using the Flit comparison capability these items are viewed 9.8 times before making the final purchase decision.  This shows the need and importance of  careful comparison for apparel, accessories, shoes and home goods.  By making this cross-store comparison possible, Flit is accelerating the transaction completion rate on mobile devices for these important categories.

Additionally, Flit Shopping Friends introduces an entirely new type of personalized shopping community, called Best Shopping Friends, where like-minded shoppers are brought together to share their shopping activity.  By exposing similar shopper’s picks when looking for the same item (e.g.  “dress”) Flit provides personalized inspiration and community assisted shopping, harnessing the recent shopping efforts of people like you.  In this way Flit delivers the casual and helpful “aisle chat” that is a natural part of the physical shopping experience.
