A leading history site has released a free book for a limited time telling the story of the Spanish Civil War, the pre-cursor to World War 2.
London, UK – May 25, 2013. It’s history podcasts.com press has released a free book telling us about the events surrounding Spain’s Great War, the Spanish Civil War. The introductory book looks at the events that led to the outbreak of war, the war itself, and the significant international involvement in the war that was in many ways the start of World War 2. In short, it explains the story of the beginning of the great battle for the world’s and Europe’s soul. And it is free on Amazon from May 25 to May 29; however, do not worry if you have missed the free period – the book will retail at under $4. The book also complements the free audio podcasts available on the publisher’s website.
Prior to the release of the book, its author George Levrier-Jones, said: “We started writing introductory history books to go alongside our podcasts last year, and I am very happy with the results so far. I hope that this book will allow those readers who have an interest in world, European or Spanish history to quickly learn about the key events in this extremely important war. The level of foreign involvement in the war continues to fascinate me – this war was so much more than a civil war. There are also many parallels between this war and later wars, and hopefully this book will allow readers to reflect on that. I do hope that our readers will enjoy the readable, succinct book.”
Available from: Amazon
The book considers the Spanish Civil War in its entirety. These include early 20th Century Spain, the Spanish Second Republic, the rise of political extremists, the civil war within the Civil War, the great battle for Madrid, General Francisco Franco’s growing power, and what happened in post-war Spain. It also looks at how Great Powers such as Britain, France, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and the Soviet Union joined opposing sides and fought against each other in the war.
The author is a budding historian from the UK. He studied history as part of his degree and has read far and wide about different historical topics. With a group of historian friends, he started the podcast series ‘History in 28-minutes’ in 2012. The same team has since created a publishing house, and they now produce the ‘Required History’ book series.
