BBA and Atos Jointly Launch IT project “Phoenix”
Atos to plan, manage and execute BBA’s comprehensive SAP services over the next 5 years in order to optimize service processes and reduce IT costs
Shenyang, -BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) and the international IT services company Atos jointly announced the launch of the IT strategic partnership project, known as Project “Phoenix”. Atos will plan, manage and execute the comprehensive services for BBA’s SAP systems over the next 5 years. BBA will hand over its SAP system and operations to Atos with a more tailored made approach in order to improve the service maturity and operational efficiency; at the same time, to integrate the existing SAP system operations and its suppliers under one IT service provider Atos, which is deemed to streamline and optimize its service processes and reduce IT costs.
The partnership, under part of the global collaboration framework between Atos and BMW, is established on the successful collaboration between both parties over the years, which has set a good business model for many more enterprises nowadays.
With the rapid business growth and scope expansion, BBA is facing more and more challenges from its rising IT demands, which requires a stable, efficient and professional IT services to ensure that the company operates with high international standards while constantly reduces costs. Moreover, the development and changes of IT industry itself has been introducing new technologies, tools and processes, which also requires the harmonization of professional IT skills and experiences to integrate with BBA’s existing business. Local production of BMW X1 started in March 2012, it successfully became one of BMW’s top 3 models in China. The sixth generation BMW 3 Series was launched in July 2012, providing two different wheelbases to the market. All products have set new benchmarks in performance and environmental protection with the comprehensive implementation of BMW EfficientDynamics technology. In order to satisfy rapidly increasing customer demand, in May 2012, the BMW Brilliance Tiexi plant was officially opened with an annual production capacity of 100,000 units (200,000 units in 2013). The Dadong plant has an annual capacity of 100,000 units. As a whole, BMW Briiliance will have a total capacity of 300,000 units in 2013. In August 2012, a plan to upgrade its engine production was announced. A new engine plant next to the Tiexi vehicle plant will raise the engine production capacity up to 400,000 units a year in the next few years.
