WEBWIRE – Friday, February 22, 2013

The new Five series Jack Taylor pulled in some great viewing figures on Thursday night with 1.24 million tuning in to see the new Irish police detective drama.

The 5.77% share comfortable beat the average slot for Five and with Episode 2 due to be broadcast on Thursday 28th Feb and Episode 3 on Thursday 7th March we would expect the audience for this intelligent police series to grow.

Certainly the early critic reviews have been very positive with Time Out saying Jack Taylor was a crime drama “supercharged with noir-tinged dialogue and some extremely classy performances”

Matt Baylis of the Daily Express praised the new series saying “I’ve never been sure what the Gaelic word craic means....if it means utter absorption in something thoroughly entertaining, Jack Taylor’s your man.”

The series sees Iain Glen playing Jack Taylor, an Irish ex-cop on the wrong side of forty who has become a finder with a sharp tongue and a soft heart. He takes on the cases The Guards won´t touch, no matter how hopeless. He´s pig stubborn, defends the lost and the broken, he´s good because he looks where no one else looks, talks to the people no one else talks to.

Based on the novels by Ken Bruen and with a supporting cast of Nora-Jane Noone (The Descent, The Magdalene Sisters), Killian Scott (Love/Hate, Single-Handed) this is a series not to be missed.
