Are Insurance Premiums Going Up for IAQA Members?

Over the last several years, insurance rates have been at some of the most affordable levels for indoor air quality (IAQ) professionals in recent memory.  Unfortunately, market indicators appear to be changing and rates for many involved with the IAQ industry may be going up for many in the years to come.
 
This topic is going to be directly addressed later this month by one of the environmental insurance industry’s leading experts.  Brian Mcfarland, Vice President of Legends Environmental Insurance Services, LLC, will be presenting on this topic at the Indoor Air Quality Association’s (IAQA) 16th Annual Meeting & Indoor Environment and Energy Expo (IE3).
 
Mr. Mcfarland’s highly anticipated presentation, Your Insurance Premiums Are About to Go Up!!! Here’s Why and What You Can Do to Reduce an Increase is scheduled for Wednesday, February 27th at 3:30.  The presentation will discuss ways IAQA members can prepare for possible market changes and why it takes an integrated insurance purchasing and risk management approach to come out ahead in a changing insurance market.  Specific topics will include structuring insurance programs for maximum benefit, what’s truly important, and ways to increase insurability.
 
“For anyone involved with the IAQ industry, if they have dropped their membership in the IAQA, or let their certifications lapse, they should strongly reconsider those actions,” reported Mr. Mcfarland.   “Insured IAQ professionals actually receive credit for these types of credentials as insurance carriers view these as risk reductions.  Information like this and more will be presented at the IAQA conference.  The knowledge to be shared should allow attendees of the presentation to weather any industry wide insurance rate increases that most experts think are coming,” he continued.
 
The IAQA’s 16th Annual Meeting & Indoor Environment and Energy Expo is taking place from February 26th through March 1st.  The event is taking place at the Orlando World Center Marriot in Florida.
