CNC Video Measuring System offering high accuracy and speed

Nikon Corporation (Makoto Kimura, President, Tokyo) is pleased to announce the release of the CNC Video Measuring System “NEXIV VMZ-R4540,” capable of accurately measuring the dimensions and shapes of high density and multi-layered electronic components.

- Product Information

Product Name: CNC Video Measuring System “NEXIV VMZ-R4540”
Availability: From February 1, 2013

- Product Development Background

Utilizing optical measuring technology and image processing done by the computer, the CNC Video Measuring System automatically measures the dimensions and shapes of electronic components. The system processes the images taken by the CCD camera for precise edge detection.

In recent years, accurate measurements of advanced products (i.e. smartphones and tablets) and high-speed image processing technology for mass production have become in demand.

The newly announced CNC Video Measuring System “NEXIV VMZ-R4540” was built upon the concept of a more accurate and faster system than the existing NEXIV series. More measurement options are now available due to the streamlined operations and improved features of the new system.

- Key Features

1. Highly Accurate and Fast Measurements

A higher level of accurate measurements has been achieved by Nikon’s in-house developed linear encoder. In addition, improvements to the image transfer technology and changes to the illumination source have shortened overall measuring time.

2. Measurement Flexibility

A third ring illumination angle has advanced edge detection, while enhancements to the TTL*1 LAF*2 have strengthened the system’s ability to measure transparent components. Furthermore, the CCD camera’s high-resolution image option enables a broader range for video measurement use.

3. Advanced Operability

Work efficiency has been achieved by reducing the number of steps needed to create teaching files. Developed for easier understanding and better comprehension, the newly added “Guide Panel” function has improved the main program. Still available are the highly rated functions, such as the “Customizable Screen” and “Online Software.”
