New Land Rover Freelander facelift launch

WEBWIRE

The very first pictures of the Land Rover Freelander are out – and it’s had a facelift. Having gone under the knife, the Freelander has definitely stolen some of the Range Rover Evoque’s limelight – we can feel a fight coming on.

So what exactly has Land Rover done to the good old Freelander? After all, it wasn’t half bad before. Quite frankly, the results are subtle, perhaps more Botox than facelift, but the changes that have been made do make a difference, and you should keep your eyes peeled for these at the Moscow Motor Show and in 2013.

There are new colours - that’s the first thing to note. And while there wasn’t exactly a shortage of them in the first place, it’s always nice to have choice, especially when the colour of your car can really reflect your personality. The XS model, appropriately, has larger wheels – 17-inch alloys to be precise. In terms of design, LED lights at the front and rear give the Freelander 2 a bit of sparkle (don’t forget that it’s the core entry-level model), and they also give you a good indication of the fun stuff that’s going on inside.

In fact, it’s the interior that has really had the bulk of the attention – from an upgraded infotainment system, brand new sat nav system and the more practical “Hitch Assist” technology, which helps with hitching up a trailer at the touch of a button.

There will be more details to follow on the new and improved Land Rover Freelander in 2013, but until then, get in touch with your nearest Sturgess Land Rover Leicester dealership to get more information on what to expect and when you can test drive one, so you can decide if it’s the car for you.
