2012 – Kia’s year of European expansion

This year, South Korean motoring manufacturer Kia has drastically increased their roster. At the autumn Paris Motor Show, the brand announced the addition of four brand new vehicles to their range: the Pro Cee’d, the Optima Hybrid, the Carens and the Sorento SUV. In increasing their offering, Kia is looking for an improved share of the European vehicle market and to develop their latest technology across the range.
 
The Pro_Cee’d is the next generation of the popular Kia Cee’d, and builds on the success of both the original model and the recently launched Cee’d Sportswagon. It has a stronger shape that lends the car the feel of a coupé, with a lowered roofline and bonnet to enhance the driving dynamics.
 
As part of Kia’s foray into the use of renewable fuels throughout their range, the Optima Hybrid uses an electric motor to deliver exceptional economy. The sedan, which combines the motor with a lithium-polymer battery pack and robust petrol engine, has a refreshed European-style body design to appeal to motorists on the continent.
 
The compact seven-seat Kia Carens is expected to be provided with a choice of robust engines, offering up to 175bhp for consistent power. The model will additionally be available with five seats, and is aimed at busy, modern families seeking a spacious and reliable vehicle.
 
Kia has also upgraded the Sorento SUV for the coming year, and the model sports an all-new chassis and a fine-tuned range of capable engines. Similarly to the Kia Carens, the Sorento will be available as either a five-seat or seven-seat model, and will come equipped with the manufacturer’s most recent technological advances.
 
A spokesperson for Kia made the following comments: “Our four newest models made a bold debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show, and we hope that UK drivers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of each vehicle on the roads.”
 
Over the next 12 months, Kia intends to offer even more choice, reliability and peace of mind to European drivers through their range of new vehicles. The new Kia models are anticipated for a winter 2012 release, and will be available from the franchised Wessex Garages dealerships in Bristol, Cardiff and Gloucester.
