Mold Detected in Camping Chairs Causes Recall

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 227 Basin model Columbus™ folding camping chairs have been recalled after they were found to contain a variety of molds.

The affected chairs were sold at sporting good stores between April 2012 and October 2012 for a retail price around $15. The style number of the affected chairs is #CC3009-N listed on a label on the side of the seat. Consumers who have purchased these chairs are advised to return them to the point of sale for a full refund.

Mold exposure may result in allergic reactions, during which fever, asthma, and irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, or lungs may occur. Also, those with health problems or a weak immune system may develop respiratory or other infections. Even those who are not allergic to mold are still at risk because mold spores typically irritate airways causing respiratory symptoms, asthma, and headaches.

To date, no injuries or illnesses have been reported in association with this recall.
