Cascadiant is awarded a significant expansion of its latest generation fuel cell solution

September 2012 – Singapore - Cascadiant Pte Ltd., a leader in the deployment of latest generation green energy solutions has signed an Agreement to expand the network of hydrogen fuel cells in Indonesian for wireless operator Hutchison CP Telecommunications.  This latest expansion makes the project the largest fuel cell deployment in Asia and positions Cascadiant as the leading in provider of the latest generation fuel cell solutions in the region.

Cascadiant’s Managed Energy Solution (MES) is built around the advanced fuel cell technology manufactured by Vancouver, Canada based Ballard.  By integrating Ballard’s fuel cell technology into a fully managed solution, Cascadiant offers operators alternative power options that are significantly more reliable than legacy solutions using outdated diesel generator and lead acid battery technologies.  
Indonesia’s Government has been encouraging local companies to lower their diesel usage and to aggressively adopt alternative and renewable sources of energy in an effort to reduce Indonesia’s carbon footprint as well as its oil consumption.  In 2010, worldwide wireless operators emitted an estimated 30 mega tons of CO2 emissions and without immediate action their CO2 emissions are projected to climb to over 40 mega tons by 2014. 
 
 “Alternative energy solutions have reached the point of not only having a very positive environmental impact, but are now commercially viable without the need for operators or governments to subsidize them.  The CO2 reduction can be over 70% per year but our solution also offers a significant reduction in the total cost of ownership” stated Marshall Towe, Cascadiant President and CEO.  Towe continued, “the GSM Association has taken a leadership role with its Green Power for Mobile initiative and now its time for the operators to make a true commitment and take action to cap and reduce the CO2 being emitted from their networks”.  “There is no reason for any operator to continue to deploy a diesel generator for back-up power.”
