Volkswagen is launching a brand new version of the Golf for 2012, with the model going on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month. After appearing at the event, the car will then go on sale throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, with an anticipated release in mid-October.

Held from September 20th to 27th, this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will host a wide range of new cars. Volkswagen will unveil the new Golf at the show, giving attendees the first chance to see the vehicle before it becomes available to European motorists.

This year’s Golf is the seventh generation of the popular Volkswagen model, which has sold more than 29 million units since it was first released. It has immense appeal as a compact everyday vehicle, and is consistently awarded the title of Europe’s most popular family car. Volkswagen has fitted a broad range of safety measures and electronic assistances as standard for the new Golf, including steering and braking systems, Park Assist, and a stronger, more durable body structure.

Volkswagen has built the new Golf on its unique and innovative MQB platform, a move which sees the brand return to more traditional methods and reduce the complexity of the manufacturing process – its aim is to cut built time by 30 percent for all future vehicles. The lightweight design and longer wheelbase have refreshed the model’s look, increasing the aerodynamics of the vehicle and resulting in a 100kg reduction in weight over the previous version.

For the very first time, the Golf can be driven in any one of four modes – Eco, Sport, Normal and Individual – available through the car’s innovative driver profile selection system. A wide range of economical petrol and diesel engines are available for the model, including a powerful 2.0-litre diesel version that offers the highest MPG to drivers.

A representative of John Clark Volkswagen made the following comments: “The Golf is a long-standing favourite model amongst customers at our dealership, and we’re eager to start offering the brand new Volkswagen Golf to Scottish drivers.”

With showrooms in Aberdeen, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy, John Clark is an authorised provider of Volkswagen vehicles, parts and accessories to Scottish motorists. The all-new Volkswagen Golf will be available to order from its dealerships this autumn.
