The numbers for the Book People’s annual charity fundraising event The Catteshall Stroll are in, with an amazing £94,513 raised with the help of 239 walkers, 11 cyclists and many other participants.

The charity event was held on Saturday 7th July 2012 by the cheap fiction retailer, with countless people turning up to assist in the amazing charity effort in aid of Shooting Star CHASE, a children’s hospice working throughout West London, Surrey and West Sussex. The numbers have now been totted up and the final total for the Book People’s efforts has come to a whopping £94,513.

Aside from being held by the best online bookstore in order to raise money for charity Shooting Star CHASE, the event also remembers publisher Peter Bowron, who passed away in 2009 and was survived by his wife and child, who receives care from the charity.

Alex Robinson from Shooting Star CHASE said: “We are incredibly grateful to companies like the Book People who are continually fundraising for Shooting Star CHASE.” Alex also commented on the fact that the original aim for the fundraising day was £75,000, which means that the Book People managed to beat their target for 2012.

The Book People has compiled a great video of the day, using footage shot back in July, which can be viewed here on YouTube.

Donna Stevenson, Public Relations & Events Manager of the Book People, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the results of this year’s Catteshall Stroll and are very thankful to all those who turned up to support Shooting Star CHASE.”

The event was held for the third time this year, and the video shows the many exciting activities which took place in July, such as an assault course, lake swimming and numerous stalls serving up delicious foods. Guest appearances included Chris Ryan, Hercules the dog, Gordon Ramsay, Edd Kimber, James Campbell and Gino D’Acampo, along with the Book People employees, volunteers and people from Shooting Star CHASE.
