The Skoda Rapid is making a dash towards a general release this autumn

Volkswagen subsidiary Skoda will add a new model to their roster this year, bringing the new Rapid hatchback to drivers across Europe. The car will make its debut on the continent at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month, with a general release following shortly afterwards. Motorists in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland will be able to view, test drive and purchase the new Skoda Rapid from the network of franchised dealerships.

The Frankfurt Motor Show is a biennial event, and is scheduled for September 20th to 27th. Following a highly anticipated showcase over the course of the week, the Rapid will be available to domestic drivers throughout Europe as a mass production model.

Skoda has created the Rapid as a completely unique and new addition to their offering, acting as the first in a new wave of restyled models. The car combines compact hatchback appeal with a deceptively large cabin, spanning 1.7 metres in length and 4.48 metres in width. The manufacturer intends to roll out the updated design across their entire range in the coming years.

The Rapid hatchback has undergone significant engineering developments to incorporate Skoda’s latest technology, and is fitted with one of the newest range of diesel and petrol engines available. Dependent on the engine used, the model will be offered with either a five-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox.

A representative of Park’s Skoda said “As a dealer that supports drivers in Glasgow from our Hamilton dealership, we’re excited to be able to offer the new Skoda Rapid to city motorists. Local customers can come to us to view and test drive the hatchback as soon as we have it in stock this winter.”

Park’s Group acts as the franchised dealer for a number of international motoring brands, including Skoda. It keeps a large range of both new and approved used cars in stock at its Glasgow dealership, and will be introducing the Skoda Rapid at its showroom once it goes on general release.
