Elms Direct Stansted cheers on the Team GB men’s hockey squad

At this year’s Olympic Games in London, Team GB narrowly missed out on a medal for men’s hockey after a defeat by Australia in the playoffs. The Elms Direct motor group in Stansted sponsors the team’s midfielder, Iain Mackay, and their BMW dealership supplied a courtesy car for the hockey player.

The team had made an excellent start to their Olympic campaign, winning their first match against Argentina comfortably. However, they stumbled in the semi-finals and were eventually pipped to the post by the Australian team. Placing fourth ensured the GB team’s best Olympic ranking since 1988, when they won the gold medal in Seoul.

A representative of Elms Direct Stansted said “The hockey team’s fourth place ranking is an excellent achievement, Team GB’s best result for decades that had us celebrating in front of the TV. At Elms BMW, we’re extremely proud to support Iain on and off the pitch.”
