NJ Plastic Surgeon Recommends Male Breast Reduction Surgery in the Summer
NJ plastic surgeon Dr. Shain Cuber recommends summertime as the best time for teens to undergo male breast reduction surgery.
EDISON, NEW JERSEY - Summertime for many men means a return to the gym or the start of a diet regime to get in shape and shed excess pounds.
However, for men who suffer from enlarged breasts, a condition called gynecomastia, no amount of diet or exercise will change the shape of their chest. One NJ plastic surgeon suggests the best time for teens to undergo surgery is during the summer.
Overdevelopment of the breasts accounts for 65 percent of all male breast disorders, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Gynecomastia is swelling of the breast tissue, which is the caused by an imbalance of estrogen and testosterone. Inflammation can occur in one or both breasts, sometimes asymmetrically.
While this condition can be caused by heredity or use of certain drugs, it is mostly the result of changing hormone levels during puberty.
"This condition affects teens during an awkward time in their life, so the best time for surgery is during summer break, as they will have time to heal in private,” said Staten Island facelift expert, Dr. Shain Cuber. “But for adult males, the ideal time for surgery is when family and friends are available to help them while they recover.”
“While there are many farce terms for this condition, it is no joking matter for men who suffer from this deformity,” said Staten Island botox provider. ”Aside from having enlarged breasts, sufferers typically have low self-esteem and a poor body image.”
The surgery takes less than an hour and is performed while the patient is under general anesthesia. A combination of laser telescopic surgery and liposuction are used to reduce melt away excess fat.
“Not every patient is a candidate for laser surgery,” says Dr. Cuber, as an N.J. liposuction professional whose partners offer rhinoplasty and facelift procedures. ”Sometimes the surgeon will have to use more invasive methods to change the size and shape of the breast.”
The results are immediately seen and long lasting. Recovery time varies with every patient, but patients should expect to resume normal activities in one to two days.
