EPFMC CenteringPregnancy® Program Video Reveals Unique Approach to Prenatal Care

Los Angeles, CA - The Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center (EPFMC) in downtown Los Angeles releases a new video focusing on its CenteringPregnancy Program, a unique prenatal care experience for the expectant mother.

The EPFMC CenteringPregnancy program prepares expectant mothers for pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care for themselves and their babies through a 10-week prenatal care program that is facilitated by an EPFMC certified nurse-midwife.

CenteringPregnancy is a unique 10-session program that groups 8 to 12 women who are expecting their babies around the same time. The focus is on creating an ongoing group of prenatal care with women who become a support team for one another. This family atmosphere enables the women to learn, get feedback, and have their questions and concerns addressed by a nurse-midwife as well as other women in the group.

According to Kerin Asher-Galloway, RN, MSN, CNM, one of the EPFMC certified nurse-midwives who facilitates the CenteringPregnancy groups, the experience for the women differs from a traditional prenatal setting: “Much of their care is self-generating. The women come in and take their own blood pressure. They weigh themselves. They do their own progress charts. This way, they’re very in tune with what’s going on in their pregnancy.”

During every CenteringPregnancy session, each woman also receives a one-on-one checkup from the nurse-midwife. The video gives an inside view of what happens during a session.
