AST Introduces New Online Driving Simulation Course for Fleets

FleetDriver-101™ reduces risk and liability with web-based simulation and interactive practice

Murray, UT, May 30, 2012 – A new training product developed by Applied Simulation Technologies, Inc. (AST) utilizes web-based simulation to teach hazard awareness and safe driving techniques to fleet drivers. FleetDriver-101™ draws on the same successful teaching principles as other AST products which have been shown to reduce risk and liability by changing driver behavior.

FleetDriver-101 is accessed over the internet from a central server and user data is tracked and reported through a learning management system (LMS). The course is divided into five short, bookmarkable lessons that include Search and Scan; Hazard Recognition; Sight, Speed, and Space Management; Judging Safe Distance and Attention and Distraction.

FleetDriver-101 was developed to refresh perishable skills and teach drivers basic information they may have missed in driver’s education. It expands on traditional online training that simply requires the student to read about driving. The lessons in FleetDriver-101 engage students with web-based simulation of real driving experiences that reinforce best driving practices through demonstration and interactive challenges.

“The professional driving community today has more variation in experience than it has ever had. This is becoming a recognized liability demanding major attention from fleet trainers.  We designed FleetDriver-101 to help balance this spread by refreshing basic concepts, rules of the road and best practices,” said Reginald Welles, President & CEO of Applied Simulation Technologies. “Countless customers have asked for an online tool that can address this issue. Clients are telling us that FleetDriver-101 is that training tool.”
