Accanto Systems Launches the Accanto iD Intelligent Datafeed Platform

New platform leverages Accanto’s award-winning iCSA network monitoring system to create rich-data exporting and value-added applications for mobile and NGN operators

HELSINKI, Finland, May 21, 2012 - Accanto Systems, a pioneer in Customer Service Assurance solutions for today’s converged networks, announced today that it has introduced the Accanto iD Intelligent Datafeed (Accanto iD) platform. Accanto iD is designed to leverage the vast amount of rich data that is already collected by the Accanto Intelligent Customer Service Assurance (iCSA) monitoring system for wireless and NGN operators, and utilize it for revenue protection and revenue generation opportunities for the operator.

Progressive operators are realizing that they are sitting on a gold mine of information; namely the massive amount of raw data that they collect from their distributed network monitoring systems. This data includes a rich array of both signaling and user data, much of it containing valuable information such as location, device type, applications and services. Traditionally, this data has been utilized only for monitoring, alarming and troubleshooting purposes. This world is about to change.

“The new world of high-impact IP-based data services, especially in the face of fixed-mobile convergence and evolution to 4G, mandates that operators develop deeper insights into the services and customer behaviors, said George Malim, Editor at Vanilla Plus. “The increased competitive nature of the market is also forcing operators to look for new sources of revenue, and to create ongoing differentiation.”

Accanto iD helps operators leverage this valuable data, transforming it into highly configurable data feeds for downstream BSS/OSS systems (such as Fault Management, Performance Management, Fraud Management and Billing Verification), as well as for unique data feeds into custom value-added applications, such as Intelligent Transportation and Population Analytics:

  • Intelligent Transportation - Accanto iD was recently employed to collect, correlate and anonymize user information from millions of mobile devices on roadways in order to generate a clear picture of traffic congestion. This information was then forwarded to a downstream system that converted the data into a near-real-time ‘presentation-level’ stream for in-dash devices in subscriber’s automobiles. This system provided an incremental, high-margin revenue stream for the operator, using monitoring infrastructure that was already in place.

  • Population Analytics - Many companies are now offering trend, location, market, and sales potential analysis solutions to various markets. These technologies leverage sophisticated algorithms that are overlaid on real-time cellular data, providing users with comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date information empowering decision-makers during critical decision making processes. For the operator, such a system can be used to leverage cellular data to create new revenue channels, gain insights regarding subscriber base, conduct competitive analysis and penetration analysis. It can also be integrated with value-added-services (i.e. navigation systems, location services, and social media).

According to Paolo Trevisan, VP of Marketing and Product Management at Accanto, “Accanto iD gives operators an edge by creating higher levels of visibility into their networks and subscribers, helps optimize operations by streamlining system integration, reducing storage and processing overhead, creating better visibility and data sharing between departments. It also provides an ideal opportunity to create new value-added applications and services utilizing infrastructure that is already in place. The combination provides an incredible opportunity for optimization, and to create new revenue sources with a minimal outlay of CAPEX.”

Accanto iD can be adopted as a standalone system dedicated to intelligent datafeeds, or it can be added to an existing Accanto iCSA monitoring platform as additional functionality.
