Black Businesses Scream Out for Attention – The ACE Conference – 12 May

Black Economics - a leading advocate of the Economic Empowerment of the African Diaspora, celebrates 7 years online, at www.blackeconomics.co.uk, with its inaugural Conference. The ACE Conference will be held in London on the 12th May, 2012.

Black owned businesses are many. They are varied. They are vibrant and they are making a difference.  Black Entrepreneurs want more growth.  They are working hard to make a living.  Some are very successful and are  employing over 500 people or turning over millions.  Black owned businesses proliferate in the Food Industry, Hair and Beauty Service Industry,  IT services, Internet websites, Property services, Financial services, Charities & Social enterprises etc…..  Not to mention the Music Industry, Entertainment and Sport related Industries.  There are some business owners who work with little or no income – as they help people on community projects, and are far more effective than Government Agencies.  
 
In London alone there are over 10,000 black owned businesses.  They are occasionally referenced by  the London Mayor, The Prime Minister and other politicians, who do not have a clue what is really happening at grass roots level.  Business owners have to find their own way.
 
Many more black people want to start a business or expand a business, but are restricted because of lack of connections and lack of finance.  Banks are not lending to businesses in general, but whereas some communities will finance each other,  black communities cannot fall back onto family funds or old boy networks.  The element of trust, risk taking, spending priorities, determination, and success are areas to be covered in the ACE Conference.
 
Black Economics encourages the support of black-owned businesses, and offers an online directory.  Recycling the Black pound is encouraged, for example where there is black wealth, a percentage of it could be used among black businesses to assist black families and communities.  In addition where mainstream businesses know much of their income comes from black communities, we investigate if, and when do they give back.
 
The ACE event aims to Celebrate Black Entrepreneurship and Career Achievement while Inspiring & Motivating Others including Young People.  The event will also note the Commercial Value of the Black Pound - where it is being spent most, and provide Solutions to Accelerate Economic Progress with Business Options & Methods
 
A unique array of Entrepreneurs will be speaking at the conference about how they achieved, and what odds they had to overcome.  Special Guest from the USA will be Dr Jawanza Kunjufu, who is the author of  over 30 books including the book  “Black Economics” and “Raising Black Boys”.  He has built up a multi-million pound business empire, employing 100+ people.
 
Other Speakers include, Lee Jasper - who will be doing a major presentation on the economic state of black people in the UK today, Mac Attram, Ifayomi Grant, Toyin Dania, Diana Powell, Lennie Allen, and Jak Beula will be doing a workshop for youths in Dragon’s Den style.  Khami Alexander will speak about rising up the Corporate ladder -  for careerists.
