Shell Nigeria, FMC and Aveon Offshore Partner to boost Local Content Capability

AVEON Offshore Limited, a wholly-owned Nigerian oil & gas service company (formerly known as GRINAKER-LTA Construction Nigeria Ltd) has recently secured a contract from FMC Technologies Ltd, Nigeria for the fabrication of major components of the Subsea Production System (SPS) for the Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) BONGA North West Project.

SNEPCo had earlier awarded an engineering procurement construction contract for the BONGA NW SPS to FMC Technologies Ltd, Nigeria.

The AVEON Offshore contract, valued in excess of US$ 30 million consists of the structural steel procurement, the fabrication and load-out of about 1,000 tons of subsea structures, including two 4-slots production manifolds with associated suction piles, well jumpers, tubing head frames, xmas tree ROV panels and control system elements.

This scope of the project is being executed by AVEON Offshore at its 240,000 sqm fabrication yard in Rumuolumeni, near Port Harcourt and is expected to generate over 200,000 productive man-hours of work. The planned load-out and sail-away of the manifolds for offshore installation is March, 2013.
Aveon Offshore has acquired additional equipment such as a horizontal boring machine, in order to fulfill some specific fabrication requirements. This acquisition was funded by SNEPCo under the contract as part of her Nigerian Content development initiatives. This represents a significant boost in building AVEON Offshore Limited, and the Nigerian oil and gas industry machining capabilities, in general.

This project will ensure a boost to AVEON Offshore’s activities through 2012 into 2013, thus helping the company fulfill a strategic milestone in its development as a sustainable Nigerian fabrication yard serving the oil & gas industry.
