Leading Authority Addresses Concerns Surrounding Online Nail Technician Courses

With many people increasing their skills sets in the wake of the worldwide recession and others searching for the freedom of self-employment, the demand for nail technician courses has increased rapidly. Such is the popularly surrounding the profession, that an advertisement for a new online nail technician course appears in cosmetology industry magazines weekly.

Aspiring nail technicians and cosmetologists should be aware that licensing thresholds differ from state to country. However, there are some universal requirements as to the nature and contents of accredited nail technician courses.

A spokesperson from NailTechnicianSchools.Org said, “Almost all states in the U.S. require nail technicians to obtain a license. The basic qualification required by all state licensing agencies is certain hours (often ranging from 300 to 600) of training in nail technology at an approved school.”

The spokesperson continued, “The concept of online nail technician courses is not a realistic one as nail technology training involves as much, if not more, practical work than theory. With an online training program this is not possible and the focus is purely theoretical. Besides, in acknowledgement of this fact, the various state licensing agencies do not accept online nail technician training in lieu of classroom training for licensure.”
