Reminder to Hondurans and Nicaraguans Regarding TPS Status

As a service to our many Honduran and Nicaraguan families, we wanted to insure that all agencies serving the community are aware of the deadline for filing for extension of your Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

*Reminder* Hondurans and Nicaraguans holding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) need to Re-Register by this Thursday, January 5th. On November 4, 2011, US Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that they were extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nationals of Honduras and Nicaragua to July 5, 2013. However, people from these countries who currently hold TPS MUST RE-REGISTER. THE DNA LADY wants to remind the community that the deadline to re-register is this Thursday, January 5, 2012. Any Nicaraguan or Honduran nationals who currently hold TPS and fail to re-register by the deadline will fall out of status and risk deportation. Re-registration is only available for those people who currently hold TPS. Employment authorization will automatically be extended to July 5, 2012. To re-register, current TPS beneficiaries must:

  1. Submit an Application for Temporary Protected Status, Form I-821.
  2. Submit an Application for Employment Authorization, Form I-765, regardless of whether they are applying for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD).
  3. TPS re-registrants applying for an EAD must submit the Form I-765 application fee, or a fee waiver request.
  4. Re-registrants do not need to pay the Form I-821 application fee, but they must submit the biometric services fee, or a fee waiver request, if they are age 14 or older.
