Sydney Theatre School Promotes Unique Production Based Training

SYDNEY, Australia December, 2011 – An alternative acting school in Sydney is the first in Australia to introduce a unique production-based training technique that sets it apart from other acting schools. Traditional Australian acting colleges spend a great deal of time on classroom work, teaching theoretical techniques such as Stanislavki or Meisner. Sydney Theatre School offers a new teaching method where students rehearse and perform plays in front of a live audience as an integral part of their training.

Mark Matthews, Sydney Theatre School’s Managing Director and Course Director says, “Sydney Theatre School provides comprehensive training for students who wish to pursue a career as actors in the theatre and entertainment industry. We offer a hands-on learning experience that teaches through performance – not just theory. An environment where students can work and learn with like-minded people and where creativity and passion is supported, encouraged and nurtured. We have great industry connections and offer students the chance to work with some of Sydney’s best directors as well as showcase their talent to reputable agents and casting directors.”

Sydney Theatre School has recently restructured their acting course to include three new modules: acting methodologies; screen and showcase. The new course starts in February 2012 and is open to new and former students.

Sydney Theatre School students are very happy with the results of this new technique.

“The course was good. Very good. It has certainly changed me as a person, and for that I am eternally grateful. The production-based aspect of the course was what drew me to it, and it has made me into a more experienced performer. This wouldn’t have happened if all we’d focused on was technique.”  Ingrid Hu, Student.
