Xia Xia pets promise to be among the hottest toys in 2011 for the holidays. The electronic crab figure is selling at a rate of one toy per second in the U.S. Pronounced Shah-Shah, these fun toy crabs feature a removable shell and they behave just like a live hermit crab. Inside the shell, consumers will find another fun pet.

This toy crab can be found online and at local specialty toy shops. With the holiday season still weeks away, some parents are already worried about shopping for their children since many stores are sold out. Toys R Us named the toy among the hottest gifts for the upcoming Christmas season and parents are anxious about missing out.

The playful hermit crab is made by the same company that introduced the Zhu Zhu pet in 2009. At that time, parents were paying huge amounts of money to secure an electronic pet on Ebay in time for the holidays. Some were paying five times the retail price. Parents should be concerned about availability since the crab pet is selling 20% faster than its predecessor. Anyone who wants to make sure they have one in time for Christmas will have to start shopping immediately.
