Pöyry Awarded Eur 1.1 Million Power Plant Project Contract In Thailand

Pöyry’s Energy business group has been awarded an owner’s engineer contract by Sime LCP Power Co., Ltd. for a new natural gas fired combined cycle cogeneration plant in Thailand. The contract value is EUR 1.1 million and the project will be executed over a period of 22 months. This new assignment further strengthens Pöyry’s position as a leading power sector consultant and engineer in Thailand.

The project is the 60 MW expansion of the existing 100 MW combined cycle cogeneration power plant owned by Laem Chabang Power Co., Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Sime Darby Berhad of Malaysia as well as Sime LCP Power Co., Ltd. Sime Darby Berhad is one of the leading power project developers in the region. The plant is located in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, Chonburi, Thailand.

Pöyry is responsible for the preparation of the specifications for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project, evaluation of the EPC proposals, assistance during EPC contract negotiations, assistance in obtaining environmental approvals, design review and construction supervision. Prior to this assignment, Pöyry has prepared the conceptual and technical feasibility studies for the project.
