Devin Crane: Los Angeles Artist Devin Crane Included In the Contemporary Art Auction by Maitre Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr October 20 – 23, 2011
“For an American to exhibit in Paris is a dream come true. Paris has always been the center for everything original, beautiful, artistic and fashionable.” – Devin Crane
International Artist Devin Crane will be debuting his new collection of paintings in Paris, France for the Contemporary Art Auction by Maitre Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr, October 20th – 23rd, 2011, amongst masters of contemporary art.
Fashion, self-image & pop culture are major components in Devin Cranes’ paintings. From a quick glance, Cranes’ paintings explode with fun colors and images that draw you in. Many times, there are stories behind the stories. The painting “Fuel Wars” deals with consumerism, waste, and environmental impact. This is all done in a satirical way with bright vibrant colors, beautiful high fashion dresses and styling. Crane illustrates how you are never alone when you’re surrounded by your favorite things, in the painting “Chole Was Never Alone With Her Paintings.” This painting shows how art can uplift you, even in your most difficult time. This painting depicts a woman surrounded by a Lichtenstein & Andy Warhol’s famous Elizabeth Taylor, “Liz on Green.” These two giants of contemporary art were able to seamlessly interweave pop culture into their work. Devin included recreations of these famous paintings, within his painting, to add a rich narrative to his damsel in distress. The painting “Their Words Will Never Hurt Her Again” is loosely based on the fairytale Cinderella, with a twist of a modern day, high fashion woman. She has dealt with the universal problems of self-image and self-worth. Devin wanted women to feel empowered and realize they can wash away and start new. Even while conquering your fears, one can still look high fashion and be beautiful.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Artist Devin Crane continually finds new ways of interweaving high fashion and luxury branding to amplify the compelling artistry in his paintings. Devin has been a professional in the film industry for the past 15 years. Many of Cranes’ paintings feature his own fashion designs. His work has been featured in esteemed publications such as Palace Costes and Voci Magazine. Devin was the Official 2010 & 2011 Poster Artist for the Cannes/Mougins Senior Golf Tournament. In 2011, Devin showed at Art Monaco 11, Cannes 3.14 Hotel during the Cannes Film Festival, and upcoming at the James Gray Gallery in Los Angeles & the Contemporary Art Auction by Maitre Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr
In recent years, Crane has developed a tremendous following and has emerged as one of the most exciting young artists to watch. His work is rapidly being sought out for many important private collections and commissions. Crane has exhibited at many galleries in the United States and Europe.
