EL PASO, TEXAS (May 26th, 2006) --- Mother’s Day weekend was an extra special time at the Ronald McDonald House in El Paso, Texas on Saturday, May 13th, as Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), the nation’s most watched faith channel, partnered with Time Warner Cable to sponsor El Paso First Lady Tram Cook’s special meal for the homeless in the El Paso area.

Amy Fihn, Cable Affiliate Promotions Manager with TBN, explained that both Mrs. Cook, wife of El Paso Mayor John Cook, and the Ronald McDonald House have been at the forefront of efforts to help those in need in the El Paso area. “We were thrilled to work with these wonderful team players to make Mother’s Day a little brighter for moms whose children are hospitalized,” said Fihn. “The First Lady’s initiative to feed the homeless was the perfect opportunity.”

The First Lady’s initiative is an effort to give back to the community she has called home for over 30 years. With the help of TBN, Time Warner, and several community volunteers, Mayor Cook and First Lady Tram Cook prepared and served food to nearly a dozen children and their parents within the El Paso area. “This outreach to the needy of our community would not be possible without the help of many dedicated volunteers,” said Mrs. Cook. “I want to express my appreciation to all those who made this event such a success, including the folks at the Ronald McDonald House, TBN, and Time Warner Cable.”

Jennifer Albrecht, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of El Paso, said that the dinner was a special blessing for parents with sons and daughters facing serious illnesses. “Days after the event the families are still talking with volunteers and staff about how kind and warm the Mayor and his wife were and how welcome and special the city has made them feel.”

Albrecht noted that the Ronald McDonald House helps children heal and keeps children healthy by providing services through a variety of programs. “It is comforting to know that for the hundreds of families that come through our doors each year seeking medical miracles for their children, the El Paso community and its leaders are here to welcome and support them on the long and difficult journey ahead,” she said.

TBN was also present at Mayor Cook’s Prayer Luncheon on May 4th in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer. TBN took the opportunity to announce its launch in El Paso with Time Warner Cable.

Gary Smith, TBN Networks’ Southwest Regional Director for Affiliates Sales and Relations, noted that the network was thrilled to partner with the Mayor, El Paso area residents, and churches who took part in the luncheon. “For over 18 years TBN has sought to provide life changing faith-programming to El Paso, Juarez and Las Cruces,” said Smith. “TBN Networks and Paul and Jan Crouch were privileged to support the Mayor’s Prayer Lunch on the National Day of Prayer as we announced the launch of TBN on Time Warner Cable.”

Caroline Garland, Director of Sales and Marketing for Time Warner Cable, emphasized the importance of faith and faith-programming, and affirmed, “Time Warner is delighted to provide the very best in faith and family programming, including TBN -- the most-watched faith channel in America.”
