TestAmerica Addresses Challenges of Sampling and Reporting Lower Level Volatiles in Ambient Air at the 2011 NEMC

WEBWIRE

William Elcoate, TestAmerica’s Air Product Manager and recognized Vapor Intrusion (VI) expert, will reveal the latest data findings on detecting and quantifying volatiles in ambient and indoor air. The platform presentation will be held at the 2011 National Environmental Monitoring Conference (NEMC) on August 18th in Bellevue, WA.

Public concern and regulatory interests surrounding ambient air and inhalation risks, posed by long term exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), have been on the rise in the environmental community. These concerns have been fueled by health and ecological risks from emissions during oil & gas exploration, chemical refining and manufacturing, greenhouse gases, fugitive emissions, and a broad range of particulates and other airborne contaminants.

Mr. Elcoate will provide an overview of procedures, media, and methodologies used for sampling, detecting and quantifying volatiles in ambient and indoor air. Comparisons of traditional methods and a review of quality assurance and documentation needed to allow for sensitive and definitive measurements, in support of investigations and monitoring, will also be discussed.

Mr. Elcoate has over 20 years of experience in the environmental testing industry and is currently a technical and regulatory expert for TestAmerica’s Air Testing Program. He has been actively involved in vapor intrusion seminars across the nation.
