Optibase Products Earn Highest Grades for New York City IPTV Traffic Management System Deployment

Optibase implementation of end-to-end IPTV system for the New York City Traffic Management Center was ranked excellent in all areas

Sunnyvale, California – Vitec, a leading provider of advanced video solutions, this month was honored to receive the City of New York’s highest ratings for vendor performance for its deployment and implementation of Optibase IPTV solution based on EZ TV System and MGW 5100 true carrier-grade H.264 encoding platforms for the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT).

The end-to-end Optibase IPTV system deployed in New York City allows the Department of Transportation to exchange video information over its network with a variety of government agencies for instantaneous information sharing and real-time collaboration among agencies during emergencies or critical events.

The DOT’s EZ TV System and carrier-grade MGW 5100 platforms encode, manage, stream and play-out hundreds of real-time video feeds from street and traffic cameras throughout the city, using a single administration and management interface. The system supports up to 5,000 concurrent users, who can view video feeds using Optibase’s powerful PC-based video player, or on TV monitors and plasma screens equipped with IP decoder set-top boxes, located in command centers. A custom-designed Remote Control GUI allows emergency service agency personnel to select camera locations using a map view of the city and associate them with STBs for playback on a video wall.

Optibase Cluster Manager centralized management solution enables IT administrators to easily manage remote access and content and play distribution. Redundancy, hot swappable components and automated system alerts ensure no-fail performance.

The City of New York’s new information exchange system includes a rigorous performance evaluation process, under which agencies are required to monitor vendor performance on contracts on an ongoing basis. Optibase’s product line and team received excellent ratings for all four criteria, including meeting timelines, budgetary goals, performance and quality of service.
